SecretSamples

Kontakt instruments for scoring

Sounds from somewhere else

Secret Samples is two composers who kept hitting the same wall: the scene needed a sound that no library had. So we started recording them ourselves – small, specific instruments for the moment a scene turns.

“Secret Samples offers some intriguing additions with interesting concepts for horror audio projects. I look forward to seeing and hearing more from them in the future!”

Why they are small

Every decision we make points the same way: fewer samples, chosen better. Here is what that buys you.

01Scope

Buy the sound, not the catalogue

You should not pay for a 45 GB library when a cue needs a handful of specific samples. Each instrument covers one idea properly and costs what one idea is worth.

02Workflow

Loads in seconds, stays out of the way

Samples are recorded as dry as possible so they sit in your own bussing. Effects come from Kontakt's built-in library, and every one of them can be switched off.

03Licence

Use a sample on its own

Most libraries require you to mask their samples under other instruments. Ours can run naked as a bumper or a stinger – a sample used alone simply cannot be registered with a PRO or Content ID.

The core

Samples that make it into the template

Most libraries are bought once and opened twice. We would rather build the one instrument that stays loaded in your scoring template – because when the scene calls for it, nothing else does the job.

Easy to use

Every control on one screen

Two sliders for expression, four knobs for the envelope, three for reverb, compression and drive. No hidden pages and no manual needed before the first note. The manual is in the download anyway.

Questions

What do I need to run these instruments?

The full version of Kontakt 6.7.0 or later, from Native Instruments. The free Kontakt Player is not supported. Kontakt is purchased separately.

Can I use one licence on several computers?

Yes. Install on every machine you work on – a workstation, a mobile rig, or four workstations. The licence covers your own environment.

What does “solo use allowed” mean?

You can use a sample on its own, unmasked – as a transition in a game score or a stinger in production music. One restriction applies: a sample used alone cannot be registered with a PRO or with Content ID, so a three-second stinger used by itself is not something you can claim.

Do I get the dry samples?

Yes. Everything is recorded as dry as possible, and the effects chain can be switched off entirely. The raw WAV files sit in the library folder.

How do I get the files after buying?

A download link is sent to your email address immediately after payment. The link stays valid, so you can download again after a reinstall.

Who is behind Secret Samples?

Two composers who kept running into the same gap in their own templates. The instruments started as tools for our own scoring work before they became products.
